Fusing 104coe 1" square tiles [Part I]

I'm posting this mostly for myself than anything else.

Back in 2013 I melted these tiles, and took the notes that follow.

rA1 = FULL
F = 1472
Hdl1 = .10
rA2 = FULL
F = 1292
Hdl2 = 0
rA3 = 320
F = 1004
Hdl3 = 1.00
rA4 = 248
F = 752
Hdl4 = 0

Then, upon attempting that schedule yesterday, I got the following results...

I made twelve of them, and those 5 are the ones I decided to keep because I mean, they're adorable... here are all of them...

Anyway, lots of aesthetics but that wasn't the point of this post...  I didn't understand why they got hot enough to stick but didn't melt all the way down, especially since I was sure that the schedule I had used (successfully, as per the first picture) had been that one... I asked on LWE as well as the Lampwork Tips, Techniques, and Questions Facebook group, and the consensus was that I didn't allow the glass to soak for long enough at 1472.  Phill (SpeedSlug) on LWE gave me some notes I'm going to include below for future reference, and also Patti Cavill on Facebook.

So, using these notes I came up with the following schedule, which is in the kiln right now... I needed these tiles done this morning but alas, it is what it is.

rA1    =    FULL
F        =    1435
Hld1    =    30    note:  Claudia Stuart suggests holding for 1 hour and peeking, then skipping step when it looks good
rA2    =    FULL
F        =    1004
Hld2    =    1.00
rA3    =    100
F        =    680
Hld3    =    0
rA4    =    200
F        =    110
Hld4    =    0

Normally I would just finish at the third hold and let it cool down naturally but I'm feeling well behaved...

For anyone reading this needing the visual, this is what my kiln looks like:

Last sale at the Met...

Here are some nice pictures I took for my last sale at the Met... where I used to work as an art teacher for grades 3-6

I used them for a mass email I sent out. It had an invitation and then said "Scroll down to see pictures of some of the items that I have for sale that are under $30. ...And I have more stuff too in other prices.
All glass pieces are made by me by melting colored glass rods over a flame (this technique is called lampworking), and all metal parts are 925 sterling silver.
"  The email had the pictures with explanations and prices to entice buyers hehehe

loose beads that fit on collectible charm bracelets (Pandora, Chamilia, Troll, Biagi, etc.) $4-$8 depending on size/complexity
sterling silver chains sold separately $24

Hungry Caterpillar necklace $35

dangle earrings $26-30

rings $17

stud earrings $23-$29

actually not attached to the email because it was over $30... also it got sold!  yay

Bubble necklaces

So, I can finally say I am SO excited about hollow beads!  I'm allll about the bubble necklaces.  These will all be up on etsy soon.  Some already are.

This is like... my FAVORITE ONE!  Love it so much.  I call it Earth Fire and Water.  Buy it.

Just love this plum color.

This orange lauscha bead is my favorite bead... it's pretty huge, and the color is stunning.

You know that I love these colors.  They are my wedding colors, after all.

Yes I will keep talking about color... These are the original colors that I used when I started this blog.  Orange and blue is such a cool combination.  Also check out the goldstone in the murrine beads...

A more neutral pallet...  And this bead does not look so hollow, but it is.  The color is brown normally but against the light it is like magenta...

No, these photos are not black and white.  These beads are actually dark gray, and yes, the center bead is hollow.

Big-holed beads, clear and with murrini.

November 2013.

Just before christmas, I decided to make a couple of big hole beads, because people always ask about them for their Pandoras.  Aren't these so much nicer than the originals???  hehehehe

And these ones are all plain with no murrini.  As per a cousin's request.  She actually never claimed them so I still have all of them for anyone who is interested.  Please contact me.  And also I will probably put them up on Etsy depending on how fast they go after I post this....

And these red ones were a special request.  They are also gone.  I just love murrini so much!  I hope to be working with lots of murrini when I start lampworking again this semester.
